strange objects, in my house

This bowling pin belongs to my husband. He got it from a bowling alley that was under demolition. I have to ask him where. I really love it, but I have to find the right spot for it. I let you see its final resting spot, once I decide.

Wrapping paper = wall art

This is some wrapping paper I picked up at Papyrus. I love the colors and design on it. These are some left over pieces taped to a cardboard mailer, I am going to bring it to the office, to hang in my cubicle. Instant colorful wall art, that my office is in desperate need of.

Party stuff........

Here's a partial view of a little banner I made for my daughter's party this weekend......... it's made from paper doiles and cut out magazine pages. Feels good to recycle them even in such a teeny, tiny way. The #4's are just going to be put on the tables, I guess they can be coasters.

Fun and super cheap party decor.

These hanging fours, were just some extra decorations to hang up!

My fave things.........Pocketbook

This is a pocketbook I picked up about a month ago. Even though it looks somewhat hippy-ish, I just loved the flowers, the colored leather stitching, the soft buttery leather. But I've yet to use it. Oh and a very colorful, lovely fabric print inside.

my favorite things.......wooden leaf box

A new thing I want to try to do is to show some of my favorite things that I own.
I want to start to take notice of the things I love in my own home. And to photograph them. To pick up my camera and walk around the house saying 'what things do I love?'. I'm not at the point where I am totally surrounded by everything I love, but one day I hope to be. But it does make you realize, and think about all the things you have around you that inspire you or that you really love and I'd like to post some of them going forward.

The photo's above show this wooden leaf box that I believe I bought from Pier1, many years ago. Is that dust on there? Yikes... try to ignore the dust, and look at the beautiful box.

Turn placemats into pillows!!!

I saw this idea either on an internet video or one of the gazillion home shows I watch. They tell you to find a placemat that is 2 ply, meaning it has fabric on each side that you could pull apart. So you cut the stitches to open it up and stuff it will lots of filling, and Voila, a beautiful pillow!!! For super cheap, as you can imagine.

Here are my placemats, turned into a pillow!

My turtle update

I'm a bit behind on showing you pics of my turtle that I made at the ETSY labs. I think he is quite the cutie! For a girl who can't sew... thank god you can't see the stitches inside, whew!! As you can see I haven't given him his eyes or nose yet. How sad! I swear I will get around to it. I did finish sewing his tail on.

My Wellies

so here they are, my crazy green galoshes!!! I get so many comments about them. Geez haven't you ever seen a grown woman in galoshes before. I don't care, they are super comfortable, and they make me smile when I wear them. That's all that counts.
And my little girl loves them! We have to get her a pair too...so we can puddle jump together. Woo hoo!

Last night: NYC- Meat Loaf concert

So I dragged my husband into NY last night to go to a MeatLoaf concert with me. (you can thank my dad for my love of Meatloaf, trust me it's totally different than most of the music I listen to).

We're on time. Great. We pull into the Parking lot, the attendant asks us 'Are you here to see MeatLoaf'? 'YES, we are!'

It's been rescheduled, he says.

What! No, It can't be!! No no no.... how could it be!! I told him I didn't believe him and that he shouldn't joke around. So after 5 minutes, I realized my denial wasn't going to help things and we should get in our car and leave this kind man to do his job.

What a total bummer!

Lesson#1: always check to see that your concert is still happening before driving into the city. (Who the hell does that)

Thursday, but really Friday..

Since I have off tomorrow, today is my Friday, yayyyy!!!!! Woo hooo........oh how I love a day off!
Painting class was great last night......I swear I could do it ALL day long! It's the most relaxing thing ever! I'm just about finished with my landscape. I must admit I don't particularly enjoy landscapes, they seem too old school or something. I guess, I just didn't know what to pick at the time. But I was thinking about what I could paint next and it hit me last night as I came home to find the latest ANTHROPOLOGIE catalog on my table. OF COURSE, why didn't I think of it before! I love those catalogs, I have the pictures hanging all over my cubicle at work, I should paint them!!! I'm so excited about this silly idea, that I can't wait to start!

Lunch is getting expensive

For lunch today I went browsing about town. Well I intended to broswe but actually bought, so I guess I went shopping. Ughhhh.
I bought some crazy Green Galoshes! No not for my daughter, but for me. Yes, those ugly plastic things that you see looking real stylish on the models in magazines. I thought it would make a rainy day more fun. Oh the issues I have!!! ha. I'll show u a pic, they really are cute! (if your 4, maybe). But I don't care.

Let's see, I also bought a cloth shower curtain with a nice green and brown print. I bought this for the material, thinking I could make a tote or something and practice my oh-so-bad sewing skills.
We'll see how that goes. I figure if I admit to these things then someone will call me out and say hey where's that tote you were gonna make?

What else did I not need that I bought today?...oh, this one was cute. It's a bunny placemat that I am going to turn into a pillow. I'll show ya, I promise. really simple and cute.

And lastly, a cloth shoe rack for the back of my daughters door. I thought she could put her Beanie babies in there. (Actually they're my beanies, but how embarrassing to admit I collected at one time).

Olilo Designs: Janaina

I Love Olilo designs!!! Especially her newest Safari theme. Check out this little Giraffe t and sandals..........gorgeous!!!! It makes me want a little one again, I swear.
Want to see more of Janaina's world, read her blog called modern love.
And shop for her beautiful wears in her etsy shop called Olilodesigns.
