Tale of a house unloved....

We live in a home that my husband already lived in. So it has a history, we didn’t pick it out together, blah bla bla. You get the picture. We probably didn’t intend to stay, but things happened and the timing wasn't right to move. So even though I have been living there a good 5 years(and he much longer), I don’t feel I’ve made it into my home. Partly because I’ve always viewed it as temporary. But part of me feels I need to make THIS house into OUR home before we can move on. As if things won’t come together if I don’t do this. I know its crazy. But I think I have to be happy ‘where I am’ first before we can move on. I don’t know why, but I’m just convinced of this lately.

So I’ve decided to put some real focus on this house and energy into making it a home we love. And the positive thing will be, once we do that it will be ready if we did want to sell in the future. But in the day to day, we can come home to a place we enjoy!

Hopefully if I have the guts I will share some photos with you!!! Yikes.
I already have a list brewing in my head, so many things to do. I'm a woman with a mission!!!

Chris Brown

I must admit if you asked me about Chris Brown before today... I would think you were referring to the young R&B singer.
But this morning I stumbled upon Chris Brown (the designer/stylist/collector) of Urban Prairie.

And I'm so glad I did. I really am not a country kind of girl, but he is so far from what I normally think of country. He loves vintage and found objects, making something beautiful out of unloved objects, it’s edgy, raw, mixed with white roses and lace, and topped off with an urban feel. I LIKE IT… I REALLY LIKE IT!!!

Behind the Label.............Anna Sui

I kind of forgot about this show for a few weeks and stumbled upon it again last night.(NYCTV)

I saw Anna Sui and Tommy Hilfiger. Loved it!!! I could watch these one after the other. My husband leaves the room. Yeah... I don't think I could pay him to watch.

Sewing... but barely

Tonight I was hanging around and while looking at Cyrille's lovely Summer Poppy Napkins I thought of making a pillow out of two of them. Now you must know I have close-to-no sewing skills. I just never really learned. I did buy a lil $20. cheapy machine a couple months ago. It's a really sad one. But if you're stitching a straight line, it kind of works. So that's what I did.


You would think it's the simple-ist thing in the world to do. But geezz my stitches are crooked. And I had to hand stitch the knots, because this cheapy doesn't backstitch. But I still love my pillow. I also used the tablerunner along the back of the couch! It looks soo summery!!!

It was great practice and I had fun doing it. But until I take some sewing lessons, I think I am just going to order some real already made pillows from Cyril!!!

I've been Bitten....

Went to see Sarah Jessica Parker's new clothing line 'Bitten' at Steve & Barry's. I admit that was the first time I ever stepped into a S&B store. I also have to admit that I was suprised at how extremely reasonable the prices were and the clothes are pretty nice. I would wear alot of them. I walked out with a really cute pink swimsuit, kinda crazy since the season is over. Hoping for one last weekend at the beach! I also bought a pink button down shirt and a leather bracelet. I really could of bought a lot of things, if I didn't exhibit some self control.

It's definitely worth checking out!!!

I'll take a pic when I can. I'll also let you know how they wash. That's always a good test on cheap clothing.

Lovely mail day.......

So yesterday was my first day back to work after vacation, which is always tough. But it was so nice to have some postal goodies just waiting to be torn opened when I got home. And what did I get.........well I received my copy of MIXTAPE ZINE from Australia. Which I promise to elaborate more on in a later post.

........this sweet little crocheted hat for my girl..........made by Lullabylamb! And the best part is those flowers are barretts that can be removed from the hat and worn alone!!! She better wear this hat......or I will! (ok not really) But it's just too pretty!

And I've saved the best for last......... I placed an order with Cyrille Gulassa who I posted about not too long ago. And I will try to not go on and on, but it was just how an order should arrive, in every way. It was packaged so lovely, with ribbons and stickers and a personalized note. Neatly, and with care!!! I took a few quick photos, because I couldn't resist!

This is a summer poppy tote, another green poppy tote, table runner and napkins in summer poppy and a CG pendant below.

And her business cards are just beautiful as well!!

I can't wait for her Fall/ Winter stuff.... I'll definitely be back for more!!

Thursday happenings.......

Well I am back from vacation. Physically. Of course, not mentally. I thought coming back mid week might be easier knowing I only have 2 days left of work. We'll see. The verdict is not in yet.
We had a great time, spent lots of hot days on the beach! I'm very relaxed and ready to get back into the swing of things.

Sweet vacation...here I come!

The plan is to lounge on a sandy blanket, sipping ice cold Pina coladas on the lovely shores of Myrtle Beach (SC) until the 15th........
