House & Home

Here I am sitting waiting for my daughter to finish her after school activity.... I'm doing my favorite thing, reading Home Design mags. This one is Canadian's House & Home... these are some of the pages I loved............

Guildmaster...how I love thee so!

This table right here is my dream dining table...it's the Guildmaster Italian Country Dining table in Crossroads blue sage...........*sigh* It will remain in my dreams until I can convince my husband that we need to spend THAT much on a table.

Anyway....it's been overwhelming with moving, trying to sell our house..which is not a done deal yet. Try refinishing your floors only to think you're moved in and have to completely redo the whole shebang...and live out of one room. So yeah... that's where we are now... it's a bit much.
Not that I'm complaining but it blows. I know it will work out...but that's whats keeping me tied up.
I just want to be able to unpack and start to make things feel like home. I'm sure you know what I mean. Soooon, very soon!!

Love you Friday!!!

Love my Fridays, I should say!!!
Some pretty images I'm hooked on.....this one is from Emily Henson Interiors. And it's fair to say I like everything about it, especially the lovely gold perfectly shaped sofa! I also like the symmetry of the objects, the great shape of that mirror, the white floors and walls as a backdrop showcasing all within, it's eclectic, pretty and I could live in that room for sure!
.
..
This next room turned dressing room leaves me speechless... don't know where its from, do you? It was in my inspiration folder which is supposed to be marked with the source. leave a comment if you know..

Subway art

Hello and Happy Friday!!! Even though the weather is a bit blah, chilly and rainy, who cares it's Friday!!!!
Don't you just love subway art? I do, this is a quick cell shot from the subway. I'll try to get more pictures of different pieces.... I didn't want to get trampled being the way of people trying to grab the train. Yeah, they're not to happy when you do that.

on my desk...

I bought this 'Pineapple and Palm Leaf' candle from Anthropologie for my office. I don't actually light it, but it still smells so good! (It's made by Illume). And need I mention the beautiful tin itself!
They have others that are really pretty too, and I'm sure they smell just as good.

Missing!!!! Hayden Harnett umbrella!

Remember this Hayden Harnett umbrella, limited edition from Target. Yes, it was my absolute favorite, if you can have a favorite umbrella! It's gone and I am soo sad and mad!

I think someone swiped it. Such a bummer!!!!!! It is a very swipe worthy item, but still! It was mine and I want it back.
OK, I'm done whining, even though I could go on and on, I just had to get it out. sorry.

Amazon Kindle commercials!

I was over at BeachBunglow where Megan posted about those great Amazon Kindle commercials! Surely you've seen them too . She also posted this video of an interview with the creative and talented makers ....Angela Kohler and Ithyle Griffiths. It was great to hear them talk about how they entered this contest for Amazon and shot it within a day, having never before shot stop motion film, etc

See interview video here...........
I thought it was so inspiring, reminding me to take risks, try something new even if you've never done it before, take your idea and run with it!! You never know what can happen!

They also have a second commercial for Kindle

Angela blogs too.........go visit her!

Good Stuff!!

HELLO! HELLO! I didn't mean to skip out on you, but there is lot's happening. We unexpectedly put an offer in on a house and it was accepted!!!!! So if all goes well, as we expect and hope it will ....we will be moving! It's not far at all, next town over... : )
But I still have to get this home ready to sell.....along with the zillion other things that come along with this whole process.
So it's very exciting and exhausting!!! But mostly exciting!
By the way, I'm so glad Spring is coming! I already love that we moved the clocks ahead, I sooo appreciate having the extra daylight. I feel more productive! I know its a mental thing, but it works for me.
The lovely eye candy in these photos are from the Anthropologie SOHO store........it's so nice to stroll through and see the displays. See the one above with the punch cards and strips of fabric, I love that idea for a backyard lounging area.

I promise to drop in and share what's happening, some crafty goodness and other cool stuff!!

PS--- please excuse my plain blog design and banner. It is under construction!

Instant and easy OFFICE wall decor!

(I actually sit on this cushion.... chair is super duper uncomfy, $3 dollar cushion...awesome)
So what do you do when you move into a new office and are staring at blaring white empty walls all day? Well you could do what I do and use your favorite catalog images for a temporary solution. And especially since there are some great ones these days......i.e. Anthro!

(Above: I know this one's kind of a dark photo, my office lighting isn't great. )

Here's what you do to make your own collage-

1. Take your favorite catalogs, here I used JCREW, ANTHROPOLOGIE, and BODEN.

2 Rip out pages, it works best if you think about using certain colors for a cohesive theme.

3. You need ONE post card, or I used a 4 x 6 canvas panel. I think the panel is best because of the thickness of it.
4. Fold the pages around it AS IF you are wrapping a present. I would not crease the edges, keep them sort of rounded but press enough so it leaves the impression.
5. Remove the card or panel and refold the same way following the impression you just made.
Now apply a piece or 2 of tape to keep the back closed.
6. Apply to wall with Masking tape. It makes it easy to remove when you want to change up your images for a new season or add your real wall art.
Ok, so there's no purpose to this last photo I just love how it looks inverted!

Happy Friday!!!
PS- ...you should do all of the folding, making of pages at home and bring to work ready to hang......unless your boss is super cool. You know, just saying. : )

Updates, Shabby Chic & pretty things...

HELLO to you!!!

I didn't even get to share the good news, YES I am working again!!! As you know it's been a long haul, so I'm very thankful!!! I started in November, it's for a Media company in NYC, so ofcourse that is the ideal type of company for me as well!

So here's a little story related to the area I work which is very close to SOHO and LOTS of wonderful shops! I happened to stumble upon Rachel Ashwells blog(the Shabby Chic queen) and learned that she re-opened 2 shops and one was in SOHO! So at lunch I had to go check it out. As I was walking down the street nearing the shop, I saw a woman standing outside and I knew instantly that it is was Rachel Ashwell herself!!! I couldn't believe it, I was shocked and thrilled. She was on the phone, so I just continued in the store.
The shop is extremely beautiful! I walked around touching everything. Rachel is still outside on the phone. So now I am bummed because I have to go and can't wait around. So I leave, and now I am sooo mad that I didn't get to speak with her or anything. So I turn around and decide to go back and atleast buy her book. So now she is off the phone.... but do I speak to her. NO.

Do I ask to take pictures with her or of the store for my blog, because I have my camera. NO! Do I atleast get an autograped book. You guessed it, NO! I totally chicked out. Am I crazy or what?

ugggggghhhh! Have you ever done the same thing?! So anyway, here's my pretty un-autographed book!!

This little notebook below is from Anthropologie!!! I love the beautiful sewn flowers on the cover! So perfect. It's a blank journal.

And lastly, this is a little quick project I did this weekend. I really, really hate how tissue boxes look, don't you!!! They are just ugly, period. So I whipped up this no-sew project using remnants from an IKEA curtain. I used that 'Iron-on' hemming stuff.

BEFORE:
AFTER:

Well, I just realized, I did stitch the flowers and twine on the side. But you can use your glue gun for the whole project, I would have but I ran out of glue. I'm going to make a few more for other rooms!
PS-- I signed up for Holly's (Decor8) new E-course 'Blogging your Way' in January. Can't wait!!!

My little must haves!!!

Who knew I could be completely smitten with SOAP, but these felted soaps are beautiful!!

And the Bubble Room victorian soaps, are so very clever! They are too pretty to use! But perfect to display.

And last but not least, the 'watch-my-drink coasters' with their little woodland creatures are so sweet!!

Swimsuit redesign

BEFORE: Plain brown Tankini top. It was a good fit but I didn't like the spacer 'thingy' between the triangles...I felt like it was too open.

AFTER: I took another brown swimsuit that I no longer wore and cut some strips to sew on these cute ruffles!!! I basically just bunched and stitched the fabric as I went along. The color is not even the exact shade of brown, but I still like it.

Yes, it's a little late in the season, but that's good because my stitches might not last a whole summer... ha ha!
